These are two different strains of fish in Japan - Shima (鯛) and SCAD fish (潰し). Both are quite useful for supplementing the diets of aquarium fish. SCAD fish (捕魚潰し) is a sub-species of carp and is similar to goldfish. It grows relatively fast and develops strong fins and scales. Shima (魚) is a variety of salmon. It is considered a delicacy in Japan, and is often eaten raw. Shima have firm flesh and rich flavor.SCAD have been found to have high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin B12, selenium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, copper, iodine, chromium, and protein content.
