The four most common trevally species caught by recreational fishers in Australia are the golden, giant, blue and black. Golden trevallies grow to a maximum of 1.2 m and 50 kg, though most are significantly smaller. Giant trevallies grow to around 160 cm and 40 kg, but most are between 1-1.5 m and 10-15 kg. Blue trevallies grow to around 70 cm and 6 kg, though most are between 30-45 cm and 1-3 kg. Black trevallies grow to around 60 cm and 4 kg, though most are considerably smaller.These fish are found around many parts of New Zealand.
